Matthew Kon is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Canada.

Working with various media, including oil paint, charcoal, graphite and various forms of ink, Matthew draws inspiration from figurative art, exploring themes relating to heritage, family, identity and solitude.

Constantly navigating subtle emotions that exist beneath the surface of dialogue and expressions, Matthew explores with a natural, intuitive, yet direct observational style.

Recently calling this practice, the Frequencies of Freedom, this references the consistency he produces art, ranging from obsessive lines that need to be precise and in control, to ones that are free to make mistakes. All collectively exploring different thoughts and emotions, connecting his work to his life and world views.
